A named destination is the beginning of the check.
Prefer a publisher-owned project page or managed store, verify the developer and exact package, and treat third-party directories and mirrors as an additional trust layer—not as the publisher.
| Check | Good evidence | Reason to pause |
|---|---|---|
| Destination | Publisher domain, official project host, or managed store | Mirror or directory with unclear publisher relationship |
| Package | Expected name, platform, architecture, and current release | Unexpected installer, bundle, extension, or profile |
| Integrity | Publisher-provided signature or hash where available | Claims of guaranteed safety without verifiable evidence |
| Maintenance | Documented update route and release history | No clear owner, version, or update path |
Trace the package back to an owner
Read the host before clicking. A publisher site, official project page, or managed store supplies a clearer ownership chain than an unnamed mirror. If the only route is a third-party directory, identify that limitation and look for a link to the actual publisher.
Match the package to the device: operating system, architecture, version, and expected file type. An APK, EXE, DEB, AppImage, ZIP, and Store listing each imply a different installation and update process.
Use evidence without promising certainty
A publisher-provided signature or cryptographic hash can help verify that a file matches what the publisher released, but it does not prove that the software's behavior is safe or appropriate. Security scanning and operating-system reputation checks are additional signals, not guarantees.
Do not disable Windows Security, Gatekeeper, Play Protect, or mobile restrictions globally to force an installation. Read the warning, verify the source again, and choose a better-documented package if the identity remains unclear.
- Avoid sponsored buttons that imitate the intended download.
- Read installer screens for unrelated bundled software.
- Record where updates will come from.
- Do not enter game or service credentials into an automation utility.
Review permissions after installation
The source check continues after the file opens. Compare requested administrator, Accessibility, overlay, or accessibility-service access with the advertised feature. Decline unrelated access and remove the tool if its behavior differs from the documented purpose.
Auto Clicker Pro names external destinations but does not host packages, certify them, or replace your own security review. Recheck sources over time because listings, owners, and files can change.
