Can you use an auto clicker in RuneScape or OSRS?

The current Jagex rule says no

Jagex’s current macroing rule prohibits software or hardware that performs actions in the game for a player. Its examples include tools that automatically move the mouse pointer and software that generates clicks or key presses. A conventional auto clicker fits that description even when it repeats only one input.

The rule covers Jagex games and is reinforced by the Old School RuneScape rules and the broader terms. This guide therefore does not offer skilling coordinates, timing ranges, randomized delays, or unattended routines for either RuneScape or OSRS.

One repeated action is still automation

Mining one rock, alching one inventory slot, or clicking one bank position may look simpler than a multi-step bot, but the number of targets does not decide whether input is automated. If a tool continues creating game actions instead of the player, the published macroing boundary still applies.

Hardware repeat modes, operating-system macros, mobile tap utilities, and remote-control scripts do not become acceptable because they run outside the game client. Jagex’s wording addresses generated actions, not only programs marketed as bots.

Rely on official wording

Community shorthand such as “one input, one action” is often used when players discuss key remapping or accessibility, but it is not a substitute for Jagex’s current rule pages. A slogan can omit context about approved clients, prohibited features, or whether the input was actually generated by the player.

Check the linked first-party rules for the feature you plan to use. If the official wording does not clearly cover an accessibility device or input method, contact Jagex support before risking an established account.

• Use the official Jagex Launcher and currently approved clients.
• Use only client features Jagex currently permits.
• Keep each gameplay decision and input under your direct control.
• Ask support about accessibility hardware when the rules do not give a clear answer.

Avoid evasion advice

Randomizing intervals, limiting runtime, adding occasional manual clicks, or supervising the screen does not create an exception. Those suggestions are attempts to change how automation appears, not evidence that Jagex permits it.

Do not trust software described as undetectable, humanized, or ban-proof. Apart from the account risk, unofficial clients and automation downloads may capture credentials or expose the device to code that Jagex has not reviewed.

Recheck approved features

Jagex can change approved clients, permitted plug-in features, and enforcement guidance. Review the source date on this article and open the current legal pages before relying on an old community answer or video.

Unless Jagex publishes a clear change, the safe rules answer is no: do not use an auto clicker in RuneScape or Old School RuneScape, and keep play within approved first-party and client features.
